Mexican-American guitarist Carlos Santana was the inspiration for this mixed-media piece. Born in Mexico, Santana was part of the San Francisco music scene in the 1960s and formed the Santana Blues Band in 1966. Later, simply called Santana, the band’s unique blend of Latin, rock, jazz, blues, salsa, and African rhythms led to the recognition of the World Music genre.
